About The Position

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Chaplain uses experience, knowledge, judgment and skills to provide a program of pastoral support to patients and families during the terminal illness. Maintains patient confidentiality and promotes patient rights as supported by agency, state and federal directives. Identifies cultural diversity and lifestyle choices and non-judgmentally accommodates for such differences. The Chaplain is committed to the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospice concept while consistently demonstrating the Hospice Savannah values and compliance with organization’s service excellence standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Divinity or equivalent graduate degree of theological studies.
  • Minimum of two years experience in hospice or related field providing care and counseling.
  • Completion of at least 2 CPE units (4 preferred).
  • Ordained, licensed or commissioned minister of an organized religion.
  • Member of clergy with an endorsement or letter of good standing from their denomination.
  • Knowledge of intervention resources and appropriate utilization.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to successfully interact with a diverse patient population, families, physicians, Hospice Savannah staff, and the community at-large.
  • Excellent customer service and documentation skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Outlook, and database knowledge.

  • Participate in the rotating on call schedule.
  • Perform patient visits utilizing personal vehicle and may require extensive driving.
