About The Position

Chaplains are frontline staff fulfilling MCHAP’s mission and Christian ministry by using their gifts and talents to serve company employees and their immediate families. The chaplain serves as a messenger of faith, mission, and purpose, and interacts with companies, employees, and the community in a manner that demonstrates character through personal and spiritual disciplines. The role involves regular visits to company worksites, usually weekly, to build relationships of trust and friendship grounded in Christian faith. Chaplains may also visit employees and their immediate family members in hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family residences, jails, and other locations where care and assistance can be offered. They may provide confidential pastoral discussions, coordinate referrals for specialized assistance, support families after deaths, serious injuries, or other tragedies, and offer care to employees after termination. The chaplain may facilitate—but not lead—spiritual enrichment activities, provide requested literature and resources, represent companies in appropriate ministry situations, and participate in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and Chaplain Team. With permission from the Executive Director of Operations, the chaplain may perform other requested duties within the scope of the company agreement. This is a part-time, remote field position. Assigned hours are generally consistent week to week, but there are no guaranteed minimum hours; positional needs vary with chaplain availability and client requirements. The work environment depends on the client’s worksite and may include manufacturing facilities, hospitals, office buildings, and funeral homes, with varying temperature, noise, and light exposure.
