Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Manager – Epic Technology Services (Change Management) As Manager – Epic Technology Services (Change Management), you’ll lead and mature the technical change control and build migration processes supporting our Epic environment. This role sits within Epic Technology Services and is responsible for ensuring that Epic changes are planned, validated, and executed safely and consistently across all MSK Epic environments. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience with Epic Data Courier, Content Management, software build tracking, and environment governance. This individual will collaborate closely with Epic application teams, Infrastructure, Security, IAM, and MSK’s Staying Current Captains to support predictable and compliant delivery of Epic changes.

Requirements

  • Data Courier Administration Certification (required).
  • 3–5+ years of direct experience managing Epic change control processes, build tracking, and hands-on Data Courier / Content Management operations.
  • Deep understanding of Epic environment architecture and deployment workflows.
  • Familiarity with HL7 concepts, integration workflows, and basic database principles.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve DC/CM issues, protections, and environment synchronization problems.
  • Experience working with ITSM/ITIL processes; familiarity with ServiceNow for change and incident management.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross functionally across application, technical, and operational teams.
  • Able to coordinate and participate in scheduled downtimes and other system events during nights and weekends as required.
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and audit readiness discipline.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Data Courier, Content Management, and Epic deployment strategies.
  • Ability to develop standards, runbooks, workflows, and metrics supporting continuous improvement.
  • Skilled at partnering with application analysts, infrastructure, and security teams.
  • Demonstrates ownership and initiative in maturing MSK’s Epic change management processes.
  • Deep knowledge of data protection, regulatory compliance, and system resilience standards.
  • Exceptional communicator able to translate technical concepts for executive, clinical, and operational leaders.
  • Analytical problem-solver who anticipates risk, drives structured change control, and champions continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day technical change management operations for Epic across MSK’s environment landscape.
  • Facilitate MSK’s weekly Epic Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and coordinate follow-up actions, communication, and documentation.
  • Coordinate monthly Epic change windows and migration activity planning.
  • Lead and participate in various workgroup meetings as needed to support Epic change planning, troubleshooting, and governance.
  • Ensure alignment with MSK’s governance processes, including the Epic CAB and Staying Current program.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation such as standards, runbooks, RACIs, and dashboards to support transparency and audit readiness.
  • Serve as MSK’s subject matter expert for Data Courier (DC) and Content Management (CM), including managing build migration workflows and best practices.
  • Define and enforce standards for protections, naming conventions, packet structures, and security settings.
  • Configure, maintain, and support DC/CM interfaces used to migrate application build across environments.
  • Provide guidance and training to Epic application analysts on DC/CM functions, safety practices, and workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve DC/CM issues, including CID synchronization, packet failures, or protection conflicts.
  • Manage Epic build tracking practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with MSK’s release and change cycles.
  • Partner with application teams to sequence migrations, validate dependencies, and avoid collisions or overwrites.
  • Support readiness activities tied to Release Authorizations (RAs) and regulatory timelines.
  • Assist with evidence gathering and documentation for MSK audits such as SOC2, ITGC, and internal reviews.
  • Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) planning and testing activities for Epic environments.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, IAM, DBA, Security, and Integration teams to ensure environment stability, access governance, and migration performance.
  • Assist with technical escalations and root cause analysis related to change control or environment synchronization issues.
