As UNT Health continues to invest in biomedical discovery, translational science, simulation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the next Chair will play a central role in advancing research, developing faculty, preparing future scientists, and shaping the department's long-term strategic direction. The Chair will provide academic, scientific, and administrative leadership for a department recognized for its strengths in microbiology, immunology, genetics, cancer biology, and translational research. The successful candidate will maintain an active, externally funded research program while fostering a collaborative culture that supports innovation, mentorship, educational excellence, and scientific discovery. This is far more than a traditional department chair position. It is an opportunity to lead a department with exceptional faculty, diverse scientific expertise, robust graduate education programs, and a strong commitment to improving human health through research and education. The next Chair will have the opportunity to strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations, expand externally funded research, recruit and mentor outstanding faculty, and unite the department around a shared vision for national prominence. UNT Health is investing boldly in its future. Recent investments in state-of-the-art research facilities, simulation, translational science, and collaborative infrastructure have positioned the institution among the nation's leading academic health science centers. The Chair will join an institution that values innovation, teamwork, scientific excellence, and the translation of discovery into meaningful improvements in healthcare and community well-being. Located in Fort Worth, one of the fastest-growing life sciences and healthcare markets in the country, UNT Health offers outstanding opportunities to collaborate with leading healthcare systems, research institutions, industry partners, and funding agencies throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth region. Few locations provide the same combination of research opportunity, institutional momentum, and exceptional quality of life.
