About The Position

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a PART-TIME Certified Welding Inspector to join our Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team. This role will support construction projects at Tyndall AFB near Panama City, Florida. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant CWI experience required.
  • Must have a clean background to access a military base.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand, and interpret tolerances.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Must be able to work well independently and with others.
  • Must be able to periodically work off shifts and overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required).

Nice To Haves

  • AWS certified.
  • Willing to learn to perform construction materials testing.
  • Technical Degree in Welding is preferred.
  • ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Certification & ICC Structural Welding Certification highly preferred.
  • Previous construction materials testing experience is preferred.
  • CMT experience provides opportunity to transition into a full-time role.

Responsibilities

  • Employ knowledge and training of welding processes, test methods, discontinuities, materials, qualifications, and standards to ensure weldments and weld-related activities comply with all applicable quality and safety criteria.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, as well as occasional plant inspections.
  • Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings.
  • Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs.
  • Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut etc.
  • Record results of tests and welding inspections.
  • Issue and follow up on non-conformances until close out.
  • Plan and conduct analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Review all welded products or components and provide input to the decision of whether to accept or reject the product.
  • Document data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provide recommended process improvements to management.
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete) and provide assessment of data through reporting.
  • Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
  • Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
