About The Position

Seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) for a 1st-shift, temp-to-hire opportunity. This position combines hands-on welding with inspection, quality control, training, and oversight of welding processes to ensure all completed work meets AWS standards, customer specifications, and approved welding procedures. The CWI will inspect welds and welding equipment, develop and maintain WPS and PQR documentation, conduct internal audits, perform weld tests for prospective employees, and provide on-the-job training to welding personnel. This individual will also assist with developing welding procedures and work instructions, interpreting blueprints and drawings, setting up welding equipment and fixtures, and supporting continuous improvement within the welding department.

Requirements

  • Current CWI certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of welding experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • GMAW welding experience, including weld station setup
  • Familiarity with WPS welding procedure specifications
  • Experience using direct-read measuring devices
  • Ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must be able to communicate in English

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree from an accredited welding program
  • AWS certification or ability to obtain AWS certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and inspect welds for compliance with AWS and customer specifications
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including welding machines, spot welders, and robotic welders
  • Inspect welding machines, finished welds, and welding processes
  • Develop and maintain WPS and PQR documentation
  • Develop welding procedures and work instructions
  • Conduct internal welding audits and participate in external audits
  • Enforce AWS and customer welding standards
  • Administer weld tests to prospective welding candidates
  • Provide hands-on/OJT training to new and current employees
  • Verify new and existing parts meet approved welding processes and procedures
  • Assist Project Management with customer-specific welding requirements
  • Help develop and improve welding processes and procedures
  • Perform grinding and metal fabrication work as needed
  • Perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment and tools
