The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for quality assurance on behalf of Bureau Veritas’s client and for conducting on-site inspections during construction. The role works with project managers to clarify work-order scope, deliverables, schedules, and budgets, and coordinates with fabrication shops, contractors, Bureau Veritas employees, clients, and other third parties to resolve issues. The inspector ensures services meet project requirements and client contracts, maintains positive relationships, and communicates information about upcoming assignments and potential work. The role generates and processes timesheets, billing and expense reports, emails, messages, and inspection reports accurately and by applicable deadlines. Reports must be typed using Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat and transmitted electronically to the Project Manager. Work may be performed remotely, on-site, or from established Bureau Veritas offices or worksites. Travel may be required, and the employee must be able to pay travel expenses 1–2 weeks in advance. The position requires a client-oriented, detail-focused approach to quality control and assurance; the ability to interpret complex design and fabrication plans and specifications; strong communication and documentation skills; and the ability to manage multiple assignments without compromising quality. The inspector must identify situations requiring PPE beyond standard issue and use a smartphone camera to add photographs to client reports. The role involves prolonged stationary work, frequent computer and productivity-equipment use, occasional movement within the workspace, frequent ladder or stair use, and positioning to access elevated or lowered work areas. It also requires close-range and distance observation and the ability to communicate and exchange information accurately.
