Certified Welding Inspector
About The Position
The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) helps ensure the quality, safety, and integrity of infrastructure and construction projects. The inspector works with fabricators, engineers, and project teams to verify welding compliance, uphold industry standards, and support work that meets client and regulatory requirements. The position involves moderate travel, approximately up to 40% of the time, which may be scheduled or on short notice. Work may take place at job sites, field locations, or regional offices, including outdoor and operational environments. Company safety protocols and PPE are required during travel and on-site work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a completed welding certificate program or vocational training.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Knowledge of various welding techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Adaptability and flexibility to changing schedules and hours to support business needs.
- Strong time management, mathematics, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Nice To Haves
- American Welding Society (AWS) or similar welding certification.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- ICC Structural Steel and Welding Special Inspector (S2) certification and approval by the Clark County Building Department (CCBD).
Responsibilities
- Perform welding inspections and provide clear, accurate documentation of findings.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to ensure compliance.
- Work with project teams, fabricators, and engineers to maintain quality standards during construction and fabrication.
- Identify issues early and recommend solutions to support project delivery.
- Communicate inspection results and project status to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture in the field and on project sites.
