About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Join the Jarvis team, we are Blue Origin's premier fabrication and development team. Focusing on welding & fabrication, machining, final integration and testing of large tooling, landing platforms and other launch infrastructures that will enable us to build the foundation for a road to space. Passion for our mission and vision is required! This position is meant to certify the welds for the team.

Requirements

  • Certified Welding Inspector certification (CWI) with minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience with the following welding processes: GTAW, FCAW, SMAW
  • Extensive knowledge of NDT processes including: VT, PT, MT
  • Experience inspecting to and working in accordance with national fabrication codes and standards (AWS D17.1, ASME BPVC Section IX, B31.1, B31.3, AWS D1.1, 1.2, D1.6, D14.0 etc.)
  • Ability to learn, grow and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Must be available to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in large assembly / tooling fabrication.
  • Experience developing weld maps as needed to track inspections completed on large assemblies throughout the course of fabrication.
  • Experience with manufacturing drawing review including robust understanding of welding symbols.
  • Ability and willingness to train cross-functional engineering teams on welding requirements and weldment design.
  • Experience working with carbon and stainless steels, aluminum alloys, Ni-based Alloys, and/or other aerospace materials.
  • Experience in hardware manufacturing processes, (i.e., mechanized welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, working with large assemblies, etc.)
  • Experience supporting design and manufacturing teams in an aerospace environment, including preparing specifications, test reports, and design substantiation documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Certify the welds for the team.
  • Experience in welder performance qualification tasks.
  • Experience in upholding shop fabrication requirements established in codes and standards for code compliant fabrication.
