Under the direction of the school principal, the Certified Theatre and Communication Arts Teacher is responsible for supporting the Diocese of Tucson in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment. The teacher shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally. This role involves teaching foundational techniques in acting, improvisation, vocal projection, script analysis, stage movement, character development, and stagecraft to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The teacher will foster creativity, confidence, collaboration, and effective communication skills, develop lesson plans aligned with Arizona State Standards and Catholic values, and assess student progress. Additionally, the teacher will direct theatrical productions, oversee technical aspects, coordinate rehearsals, manage resources, and communicate with families. The position requires active support and promotion of the school's mission and values, integration of Diocesan Religion Standards and Catholic virtues, and assistance with incorporating drama into school activities. The teacher will model Christian values, use online platforms for teaching, create a safe and inclusive learning environment, maintain open communication with parents, and collaborate with faculty and staff. Participation in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities is expected. The role also involves supporting extracurricular activities and maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.
