About The Position

Provides academic support, mentoring, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and prevention-focused enrichment services to middle school youth participating in the Bubble Kids Program. The Teacher/Mentor helps students strengthen academic performance, emotional regulation, decision-making, positive peer relationships, resiliency, and connections with trusted adults. This position supports structured youth programming designed to provide early intervention for students experiencing academic, behavioral, attendance, or social challenges that may increase vulnerability to negative peer influence or substance misuse. Work is performed under the direction of the designated Program Manager and/or Site Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and current Florida teacher certification required.
  • One year of experience working with youth in an educational, recreation, mentoring, youth development, after-school, community-based, or related setting required.
  • Applicants must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Must be First Aid/CPR certified or able to obtain certification prior to employment.
  • Must pass criminal background check and polygraph.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with middle school youth preferred.
  • Knowledge of or experience with SEL, youth mentoring, trauma-informed practices, positive youth development, behavioral support, or substance-use prevention preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group academic tutoring and support.
  • Assist students with study skills, organization, goal setting, and school engagement.
  • Facilitate age appropriate SEL activities focused on self-awareness, emotional regulation, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills.
  • Serve as a positive adult mentor and build consistent, supportive relationships with participating youth.
  • Facilitate prevention-focused activities that promote healthy choices, resiliency, and positive peer relationships.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of participation and student progress.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and appropriate standards of conduct.
  • Participate in required training, program meetings, and professional development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
