About The Position

The Certified Teacher-Diesel Instructor will be responsible for designing and implementing rigorous instructional outcomes that represent important learning in the discipline. This role involves managing classroom procedures to maximize instructional time and learner engagement, utilizing effective questioning and discussion techniques to promote student thinking, and engaging students in learning tasks that challenge their thinking. The instructor will also use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and provide feedback, and will demonstrate professionalism through continuous professional development, positive attitude, and adherence to ethical and legal standards. The position is located at the Career Magnet Center.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate.
  • Meet the requirements listed in the Louisiana Standards for State certification of school personnel, Bulletin 746, Part Ill, IV, V, VI, VII, IX and X.
  • Meet minimum requirements as stated in SDE Bulletin 746 (as revised).
  • Qualifications should be established for the position, not the individual.

Responsibilities

  • Design instructional outcomes that represent rigorous and important learning in the discipline, are clear, written in the form of student learning, suggest viable methods of assessment, reflect different types of learning, and take into account the varying needs of students.
  • Manage classroom procedures to maximize instructional time, productively engage students, manage learner behavior, and establish smooth-running classroom routines.
  • Use questioning and prompts designed to promote student thinking and understanding, create genuine discussions among students, and engage most students in the discussion.
  • Engage students in learning tasks and activities that are aligned with instructional outcomes, challenge student thinking, and provide the time needed for intellectual engagement.
  • Use formative and summative assessment regularly to guide instruction, make students aware of assessment criteria, encourage self-assessment, and give accurate and specific feedback.
  • Grow and develop through professional development, attend and participate in meetings, use active listening skills, accept the value of others' contributions, show professionalism in attitude and conduct, develop leadership and responsibility, demonstrate skills to receive and give constructive feedback, identify problems and issues and work collaboratively to find solutions, maintain communication with supervisor, use respectful communication, write and speak clearly and concisely, develop and maintain a safe and caring environment for students, represent the schools and district positively, adhere to employee dress code, treat all stakeholders respectfully and helpfully, cooperate with administration and staff, complete tasks accurately and on time, minimize bias, accept responsibility, adhere to Board policies and procedures, adhere to district guidelines relative to attendance, report to work on time, work additional hours when necessary, adhere to ethical, legal and professional standards, apply laws, policies, regulations, and procedures fairly, follow directives, refrain from revealing confidential information, and use proper administrative procedures.
