About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in the Operating Room at Texas Health Fort Worth will play a crucial role in patient care. This full-time, day shift position involves assisting in a fast-paced, high-volume department averaging 75 surgeries per day. The role offers excellent clinical experience, particularly in high-acuity procedures such as robotics, complex spine and ortho trauma, and intricate plastic surgery cases. The department is a Level I Trauma Candidate, providing exposure to intense surgical procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009
  • Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1,2009
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology within 2 years of hire
  • LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, acceptable grooming practices and ability to function in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire
  • 1 Year of current operating room experience

Responsibilities

  • Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcome.
  • Assists as needed in coordinating patient care Peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Assists in providing Peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
  • Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
  • Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment.
  • Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
