About The Position

Our close-knit Surgery unit is looking for an experienced CST to join our team! This is a Full Time position working Day Shift, with four-10 hour shifts and 2-3 on-call shifts per month required. The Surgery Department highlights include working with a Multi-Disciplinary Team in 8 Operating Rooms, including 3 Robotic Operating Rooms. Cases include Neuro, ortho, robotic, eye, plastics, GYN, general, podiatry & urology. You will work with ill patients and provide lifesaving care, with the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009
  • Other Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology
  • Operating Room experience scrubbing a variety of surgical specialties or new grad CST preferred
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire Req
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 Upon Hire Req
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon Hire Req
  • LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire Req
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics
  • Preoperatively assist R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care
  • Assist as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assume responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice
  • Post-operatively follow proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assist RN circulator with post-operative duties
  • Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
  • Assists in delivering care in a manner which protects the patient from injury.
  • Care is provided with an emphasis on continually improving quality, service and cost effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates competence in assisting with the performance of age appropriate patient care that is specific to the unique physiological and anatomic aspects of life from the very young to the older adult.
