About The Position
Under the direct training of a registered nurse, the Certified Surgical Technologist performs scrub activities and assists with a variety of patient care activities for patients of varying ages in the operating room setting. This is an experienced-level PRN position on the day shift at El Paso Children’s Hospital in El Paso, Texas.
Requirements
- One year of recent Operating Room experience.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program of study.
- Effective oral communication skills.
- Technical competence in tasks within the scope of practice of a Surgical Technologist.
- Ability to read and comprehend English sufficiently to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
Responsibilities
- Perform scrub activities under the direct training of a registered nurse.
- Assist with a variety of patient care activities for patients of varying ages in the operating room.
- Concentrate on and monitor instrument, sharps, and sponge counts.
