About The Position
The Certified Surgical Technologist is an unlicensed member of the surgical team who scrubs and/or assists during surgical procedures under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role provides direct and indirect patient care to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric, by helping prepare patients and the environment for surgical procedures. The technologist is responsible for knowing the surgeon’s routine and preferences. This is a full-time night position in Labor and Delivery at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital, scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for three shifts per week. The schedule includes two Friday/Saturday weekend combinations every six weeks, three 12-hour on-call shifts every six weeks (anticipated to decrease to two), and approximately four holidays per year on a rotating schedule. The position offers a $20,000 taxable sign-on bonus paid over two years. Eligible new hires relocating from more than 100 miles away may receive up to $10,000 in taxable relocation assistance, payable within 45 days of hire. These bonuses are not available to current Vanderbilt Medical Center staff or former staff who worked there within the past 12 months.
Requirements
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) certification through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
- Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
- Relevant work experience; the listed experience level is less than one year.
