Certified Surgical Technician Operating Room Full Time
About The Position
Saint Joseph East is a 217-bed, full-service, community hospital located in Lexington, Kentucky. It includes the Women's Hospital at Saint Joseph East, which features a 16-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). CHI Saint Joseph Health, part of CommonSpirit Health, is a non-profit, Catholic health system with approximately 175,000 team members and 25,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians across 140 hospitals and over 2,200 care centers in 24 states. The Certified Surgical Technician facilitates operative or other invasive procedures by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. This role involves maintaining the sterile field and anticipating and responding to the needs of the surgical team.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program required
- Experience with varied high tech surgical equipment required
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) required upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) required upon hire
Responsibilities
- Assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure
- Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure
- Performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator
- Assisting with placement of sterile drapes
- Providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure
- Maintaining an organized sterile field
- Ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed
- Preparing sterile dressings
