Certified Surgical Tech-OR

Carenest Health Services•Roswell, GA

About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist works under the direction of a registered professional nurse and assists the healthcare team in providing safe, age-appropriate, and culturally aware patient care. The role performs duties for moderate- to high-acuity surgical cases and, as needed, cases above that level. The technologist uses knowledge of the case’s anatomy, equipment, and instrumentation to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other healthcare team members, and develops additional skills for progressively more difficult cases. The technologist prepares the operating suite and surgical field, maintains the sterile field, and remains attentive to patient safety. Duties also include gathering instruments and supplies, serving as a surgical assistant as needed (not as a certified surgical first assistant), troubleshooting instruments and equipment, and anticipating additional procedural needs. The role may include mentoring, precepting, or training; participating in performance-improvement initiatives; and assisting with inventory, ordering, and stocking operating rooms and other assigned perioperative areas. The technologist helps ensure ongoing compliance with Joint Commission standards. Call or late coverage may be required depending on the facility.
