Certified Surgical First Assist at Surgical Institute of Reading As a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA), you will play a key role as part of our surgical team. In addition to your technical expertise, we value your ability to bring critical thinking and a proactive approach to the operating room to help support optimal patient outcomes. The Surgical First Assist works closely with the surgeon and surgical team throughout the procedure. Responsibilities include assisting the surgeon during operations by handling instruments, providing tissue exposure, controlling bleeding, holding retractors, and assisting with suturing and wound closure. This role is essential to ensuring efficient surgical workflow and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Minimum HS Diploma required
  • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) required
  • Current BLS certification
  • Proven experience as a Surgical Assistant, with excellent knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique
  • Strong technical skills in surgical procedures and instrumentation

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the surgeon during operations by handling instruments
  • Providing tissue exposure
  • Controlling bleeding
  • Holding retractors
  • Assisting with suturing and wound closure
  • Ensuring efficient surgical workflow and high-quality patient care
