Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- One of the following certifications is required: CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) certification CRCST CBSPD certification
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Must have demonstrated competence in instrument set assembly and sterilization across multiple specialties.
Responsibilities
- Inspecting, cleaning, assembling, and sterilizing surgical instrument sets.
- Operating cleaning and sterilization equipment.
- Preparing supplies and instruments for both steam and low-temperature sterilization.
- Effectively decontaminating instruments and equipment according to department procedures.
- Accurately performing prep functions including instrument set assembly, wrapping, labeling, and identification of all items processed in SPD.
- Demonstrating knowledge of all instruments and equipment processed through SPD.
- Demonstrating knowledge of proper loading and operation of sterilizers and other equipment.
- Preparing case carts accurately and delivering within adequate time for case setup.
- Promptly storing sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment in the proper locations after processing.
- Performing biological testing/sterility assurance tasks accurately.
- Maintaining biological test log and other sterilization records keeping.
- Knowing procedure for load recall in the event of a positive biological test.
- Responding promptly and positively to all customer requests.
