About The Position

This position is for a Lead Certified Sterile Processing Technician who will assist the Manager in supervising the efficient processing of instruments and sterilization throughout the Hospital. Requirements

  • Ability to operate all OR sterilization and processing equipment, to prioritize and organize, and to work independently with consistent supervision
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of instrumentation used in the operating room and throughout the Hospital
  • Required H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Required CRCST - Cert-Cert Reg Cent Ser TECH by The Healthcare Sterile Processing Association OR CSPDT - Cert-Sterile Proc & Dist Tech by the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician issued by The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution
  • 2 years hospital instrument processing

Responsibilities

  • Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU’s and best practices.
  • Ensures staff are trained in the operation of the decontamination equipment.
  • Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
  • Performs physical and environmental duties as designated routinely, including cleaning workspace/instrument room/cabinets, emptying biohazards waste, monitoring sterilizers, and checking environmental monitors.
  • Completes sterilization processes.
  • High level disinfection.
  • Monitor completion of Quality Assurance Data
  • Ensure the department is adequately staffed daily, including weekends.
  • Collaborate with others i.e., OR coordinators BioMed, Supply Chain, for troubleshooting/ordering instruments etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
