The Central Sterile/Supply Technician will accurately perform quality control checks on instruments and equipment as well as ensure the sterilization of the instruments and equipment is up to standard.

Requirements

• One (1) year experience in surgical department in an acute care facility required
• Sterile Processing certification or National Surgical Technician certification required
• Current BLS obtained through AHA (American Heart Association) required
• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor certification required within one year of employment required

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Making rounds to assure equipment is properly charged for usage.
• Accurately maintains all sterile or clean supplies and issues same to nursing units on request.
• Understand and be able to demonstrate the difference in flashing techniques.
• Accurately decontaminate, assemble and wrap instruments and trays for sterilizations.
• Assemble a wide variety of instrument sets.
• Keep log of missing instruments and signing the instrument set list according to protocol, as assigned.
• Utilize/refer to surgeon preference cards when setting up trays.
• Demonstrate the ability to pull cases and prioritize instrumentation needs based on the surgery schedule.
