About The Position

Coaching at Windells has been a starting point for the worlds elite coaches and athletes. The summer environment fosters professional and athletic development like nowhere else in the world, you can get a full seasons worth of experience and progression in just a few weeks. We pair that with a full week of training (followed by a full summer of support) from a management staff made up of Olympic coaches, PhD's, industry leaders, elite athletes and 15+ year camp professionals. The purpose of a Coach is to effectively supervise campers while instructing and communicating snowboarding and other recreational skills to campers in accordance with the mission statements, goals and objectives of the company. This includes goal setting, lesson planning, skill progression and evaluation.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • CPR w/AED & First Aid Certified prior to start date
  • Valid US Drivers License
  • High level of coaching experience
  • Certification from AASI, USASA, USSA/USSS or International Equivalent
  • Experience working with children as a leader
  • Knowledge of coaching progressions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Repeatedly lift 75 pounds
  • Move heavy luggage
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Ride a bicycle
  • Physically able to participate in all activities offered
  • Verbally communicate with campers, staff, and parents, and provide information coherently
  • Follow all ACA requirements and standards
  • Agree to random drug tests or drug tests after any accident or Workers Compensation claim under reasonable suspicion
  • Follow all We Are Camp employee personnel policies and regulations

Responsibilities

  • Supervise campers (up to 10 per group) during on-hill and off-hill activities.
  • Instruct and communicate snowboarding and other recreational skills to campers.
  • Set goals, plan lessons, and evaluate skill progression for campers.
  • Assist with setup and tear-down procedures at the beginning and end of the summer.
  • Attend pre-camp orientation, meetings, and training clinics.
  • Hold orientation with assigned groups, covering daily programs, schedules, and safety.
  • Ensure campers have necessary safety equipment (eye protection, sunscreen, water, lunch, extra clothes, backpack, snow-specific helmet).
  • Inspect campers' equipment for safety and functionality.
  • Inform youth campers about helmet requirements.
  • Ensure campers know meeting points and safety procedures for leaving the mountain.
  • Inspect campers' equipment and arrange for demo or rental gear if needed.
  • Explain goal setting to campers and assist with goal sheets.
  • Build 'Perfect Balance' plans with campers based on individual goals and ability levels.
  • Intermingle with campers at meals to foster a welcoming environment.
  • Drive campers and staff to and from the mountain.
  • Attend daily morning coaches meetings.
  • Meet groups on time, conduct roll call, and check in with counselors and medical staff.
  • Pick up and track the correct number of lift tickets for the group.
  • Ensure campers wait for staff when heading to vans and understand the shuttle schedule.
  • Organize and keep the group together.
  • Provide structured technical instruction.
  • Familiarize campers with mountain routes, facilities, responsible riding, skier responsibility code, and separation procedures.
  • Coach, ride, and have lunch with the assigned group on designated days.
  • Coordinate video review of campers (at least twice a day per camper).
  • Lead assigned specialized clinics at least every other day.
  • Lead and supervise off-hill activities daily (afternoon and evening).
  • Participate in off-hill activities such as mountain biking, skateboarding, arts and crafts, waterfall hikes, educational ski clinics, skate facility monitoring, and curfew security patrol.
  • Write comprehensive and informative mid and end-of-session camper evaluations.
  • Personally give each camper the session evaluation at disorientation and review it individually.
  • Stay at Disorientation until campers are released and make a positive final impression.
  • Attend all meetings deemed necessary by management.
  • Immediately report any on-hill accidents to the Head Coach and complete a digital incident report.
  • Work airport days or drive airport shuttles as scheduled.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and responsibilities due to business needs.
