Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
About The Position
This role involves performing pre- and post-anesthesia patient visits, reviewing medical history, evaluating patients, and determining appropriate anesthesia methods. The CRNA will also evaluate diagnostic tests, monitor anesthesia administration, and manage patient vital signs to ensure safety. Key responsibilities include informing the surgeon of patient condition, managing the patient's airway, overseeing recovery from anesthesia, preparing and administering anesthetics, and responding to emergencies. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a relevant field required.
- Valid State of Florida APRN license required.
- Certification as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) required.
- BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required.
Responsibilities
- Performs pre- and post-anesthesia patient visits and documents anesthesia notes on patient records.
- Reviews medical history, evaluates patients, and determines proper methods of anesthesia.
- Performs or evaluates diagnostic tests, such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Measures and monitors the level and speed at which anesthesia is administered.
- Monitors patient vital signs to ensure safety, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, and urine output.
- Informs the surgeon of the patient's condition during anesthesia.
- Manages patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.
- Oversees patient recovery from anesthesia and cares for the patient's immediate post-operative needs.
- Prepares prescribed solutions and administers local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures.
- Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering fluids or drugs, and using basic or advanced life support techniques.
- Develops anesthesia care plans.
