About The Position

The Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) / Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides culturally specific peer support to refugee-immigrant and black, indigenous, and people of color clients who may be experiencing substance abuse/misuse (SUD) issues in the community. This position facilitates contact with providers, assists with case management, care coordination, 1:1 peer counseling, and addresses issues that may be barriers to accessing treatment and/or support in the community. Position will work out of our Beaverton office and our Portland Office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) or Certified Peer Support Specialist-Adult Addictions (PSS)
  • Reliable transportation for business purposes, such as between work locations and community settings as this position drives clients in personal and/or agency rental.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Standard LCSNW criminal clearance, including national sex offender, motor vehicle records, valid driver’s license with clean driving record, and active auto insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of clients in recovery and meet with them regularly by providing coaching and mentoring, model healthy and empowered behavior
  • Provide case management, care coordination, education and employment support
  • Communicate with the treatment team about any problems and concerns
  • Document services using electronic health records in accurately and in accordance to agency policy
  • Support outreach, education, and community engagement activities
  • Provide support to clients and community members in a culturally humble and empathetic manner
  • Acts as a positive role model for individuals being served and exploring their own path to wellness and recovery.
  • Acts as an advocate for individuals being served when appropriate, both within the organization and with other entities.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant program/department requirements, including and not limited to adhering to all record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network.
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served.
  • Other duties as assigned.
