About The Position

Renewal Falls Recovery Center, in collaboration with Ascension Recovery Services, is committed to supporting individuals on their journey toward recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health challenges. We are seeking compassionate and dependable Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists who are passionate about recovery and helping individuals build the skills, confidence, and support systems needed for long-term success.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist credential recognized in Iowa , or ability to meet applicable certification requirements for the position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Understanding of recovery principles, peer support, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and person-centered care.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional and peer-support boundaries.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet organizational requirements for client transportation, if transportation is an essential function of the position.
  • Ability to work assigned days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, recovery services, or a healthcare setting is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and orient new clients to the program, including program expectations, schedules, available resources, and recovery supports.
  • Use appropriate peer-support principles and lived-experience-based support to encourage hope, engagement, self-advocacy, and recovery.
  • Facilitate recovery-focused, educational, and psychoeducational groups within the scope of the position.
  • Assist with client admissions and complete required documentation according to established procedures.
  • Conduct urine analysis (UA) collection and related documentation in accordance with training and organizational procedures.
  • Maintain timely and accurate progress notes and provide appropriate client updates.
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and encourage participation in recreational and recovery-focused activities.
  • Transport clients to appointments, AA/NA meetings, and other approved recovery-related activities as assigned.
  • Lead and participate in recreational, wellness, and recovery-support activities.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, supportive, and structured treatment environment.
  • Provide reception coverage and assist with communication between clients and staff as needed.
  • Recognize escalating behaviors and utilize approved de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques.
  • Obtain and document basic information, such as vital signs and client weight, when trained and authorized to do so.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and provide appropriate observations and peer-support perspectives.
  • Connect clients with community and aftercare resources that support continued recovery.
  • Provide support during emotional, social, or behavioral health crises and promptly escalate safety or medical concerns to the appropriate clinical or medical staff.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
