About The Position

The Certified Radiologist Assistant is an experienced, registered radiographer who has obtained additional education and certification that qualifies them to serve as a radiologist extender. The Certified Radiologist Assistant works under the supervision of a radiologist to provide quality patient care in a hospital and/or outpatient facility.

Requirements

  • Current certification or registration as a Registered Radiologist Assistant (R.R.A.) granted by the ARRT.
  • Licensed by the State of Florida as a Certified Radiologist Assistant or be able to obtain licensure prior to employment.
  • Documentation of the number and types of cases performed during the past 24 months.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain hospital privileges as a CRA/RRA.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and patients, and the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to see with or without corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly, with or without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Able to perform a variety of hospital and outpatient procedures following the protocols established by the hospital and/or outpatient facility.
  • Conducts initial and on-going assessment of patients' medical and physical status, periodic evaluation, and progress notes. Records pertinent data in the medical record.
  • Implements physician-directed treatment plans. Conducts patient/parent education and counseling covering health status, test results, disease processes, and discharge planning. Explains effects and potential side effects to the patient prior to the exam.
  • Demonstrates compassion to ensure quality patient care and satisfaction while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Performs various procedures, follow-up patient evaluations, and communicates findings to the radiologist.
  • Evaluates images for completeness and diagnostic quality, and recommends additional images within the same modality as required. Reports clinical observations to the radiologist.
  • Demonstrates current competence based on results of OPPE and outcomes with a minimum of care for at least 50 diagnostic radiology cases within the past 24 months.
