About The Position

Walgreens pharmacy micro-fulfillment centers use robotic technology in a central pharmacy environment to dispense and ship prescriptions to Walgreens retail stores. The Certified Pharmacy Technician provides order-processing support for fulfillment and/or assists in preparing and distributing prescription medications through the fulfillment system. The technician follows standard operating procedures and Company policies and procedures. The role supports patients and pharmacists and contributes to accurate, quality-controlled prescription processing and distribution.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Obtain and maintain registration in good standing with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy.
• PTCB or ExCPT certification.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Basic PC skills, including starting and shutting down a computer, using a mouse, opening and closing programs, switching between programs, saving files, printing documents, and accessing information online.
• Basic search-engine skills, including opening a browser, entering URLs, using a search engine, bookmarking sites, navigating browser controls, and filling out online forms.
• Intermediate keyboarding skills of at least 25 WPM, touch typing, and document formatting.
• Willing and able to perform tasks involving pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willing and able to carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willing and able to work a flexible shift.
• At least 18 years of age.
• At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail, fulfillment, or call center environment.
• Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting service quality and productivity standards.
• Intermediate to advanced keyboarding skills of at least 35 WPM, touch typing, and document formatting.

Responsibilities

• Process new patient registrations by entering information into the appropriate system according to Walgreens prescription data-entry procedures and guidelines.
• Handle patient prescription requests within HIPAA guidelines and enter refill orders for processing.
• Troubleshoot missing prescription information, interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes), and resolve data-entry exceptions.
• Operate automated machinery, sort medications, and move inventory through workflow stages while focusing on quality control.
• Count and fill prescriptions, affix labels, and pack and ship orders.
• Clean and help maintain machinery and keep the work area orderly.
• Resolve third-party rejects by reviewing and gathering information, making corrections, and resubmitting according to individual plan requirements.
• Assist pharmacists at the facility and at other locations.
• Identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate.
