Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. They work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Technicians present completed medications to the pharmacist for verification, routinely interact with patients to ensure quality service, and perform other applicable job duties. The posting describes requirements for both Certified Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technicians. Both roles require a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum age of 18, communication and teamwork skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, direct customer and patient interaction, and problem-solving and organizational skills. Certification through a nationally accredited pharmacy organization is required for the Certified Pharmacy Technician role. The Pharmacy Technician role requires no prior experience.
