Requirements

High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree with at least 1 year of experience in a human services‑related field
Certified Peer Specialist Training
Peer Specialist Certification (Required)
PA Criminal Clearance
PA Child Abuse Clearance (if applicable)
FBI Fingerprint Clearance
Valid Driver’s License
Not listed on any Medicaid/Medicare Exclusion lists

Provides peer support using their own lived experience to help others feel understood, hopeful, and less alone.
Offers practical guidance (e.g., coping strategies, navigating services, building routines) based on what has worked for them personally.
Supports recovery goals by helping people set and work toward goals like stability, wellness, employment/education, or community connection.
Builds trusting, nonjudgmental relationships and encourages self-advocacy and independence.
Works alongside clinicians and community providers (when applicable) to share insights and promote coordinated, person-centered care.
Helps reduce isolation by connecting people to groups, resources, and community activities.
