About The Position

As the Certified Payroll Accountant, you will have the opportunity to prepare weekly Certified Payroll reporting in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with the US Department of Labor, State, and Local guidelines. You will ensure that Black & Veatch complies with Davis-Bacon and other related Acts. You will regularly coordinate with various Black & Veatch departments to assure prevailing wage requirements are met and accurately reported.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
  • Typically 2+ years related experience
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Weekly preparation and filing of Certified Payroll
  • Monitor Subcontractor Certified Payroll submissions
  • Research reporting documents that must be submitted when performing work on federal, state and locally funded construction projects.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Construction Field Timekeeping to assure accurate information is provided as it applies to the recording of Time and Prevailing Wage requirements.
  • Assure Classifications, Hours worked, Rate of Pay (including fringe benefits), Gross Amounts Earned, and Deductions for Construction Craft are aligned and accurately reported.
  • Assure workers are properly classified to receive the "Prevailing Wage Rate" for specific types of work
  • Assist fellow Payroll co-workers on Payroll processing tasks as time permits.
  • Research filing requirements including forms and guidance
  • Work with Human Resources regarding accurate application of Prevailing Wages Support Functions
  • Assist with additional Payroll Processing and special projects, as assigned
