About The Position
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for recording payroll and performing all related general accounting duties including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations. This position will work closely with the Payroll Manager, HR department, and Plant Controllers to ensure weekly and bi-weekly payroll is recorded accurately and timely.
Requirements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- Strong attention to detail and a desire to assume new responsibilities
- Strong PC skills including advance knowledge of Excel (i.e. VLOOKUP, pivot table) and ERP software
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and application
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3+ years General Accounting experience
- Minimum of 1+ years with payroll experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Workday experience is a plus
- Raw / Food Industry experience is a plus
- Spanish knowledge helpful
Responsibilities
- Interface weekly and bi-weekly payroll from Workday to the general ledger in PRMS
- Send weekly payroll detail to plant controllers and assist in correcting any discrepancies
- Perform monthly payroll closing activities which include journal entries and running payroll reports from Workday
- Interface accounting detail for employee travel and expense reimbursements monthly from Workday to PRMS general ledger
- Reconcile payroll and benefit related general ledger accounts monthly and research variances for clearing
- Provide explanations for payroll fluctuations in monthly overhead reporting and balance sheet reviews.
- Open and distribute all payroll related mail to the appropriate individuals
- Maintain Workday general ledger and account posting rules
- Review and maintain procedures and internal controls related to payroll accounting
- Be able to deliver under pressure and meet deadlines
- Seek opportunities to streamline and improve processes and work with the business to provide accounting and analytical support
- Other duties as needed
