About The Position

The COTA will implement, with minimal supervision, high-quality occupational therapy services for residents and caregivers in accordance with the principles and practices of Occupational Therapy, State, Federal, and MMH regulations, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) accredited program for Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Possess an American Occupational Therapy Certification Board Certificate for Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Ability to incorporate all aspects of OT in total resident care as regulations allow.
  • Team philosophy and desire to facilitate long term care residents to their highest level of function.
  • Able to grasp new theories and principles and implement them in practice.

  • Experience in adult acute and long term care facility

Responsibilities

  • Insuring that all residents are afforded the opportunity to achieve and maintain their highest level of function, under the direction of the OTR.
  • Maintaining resident care records and accurate billing records.
  • Communicating effectively with all necessary disciplines regarding resident progress, problems and approaches to residents.
  • Ensure continuation of appropriate therapeutic follow-up programs.
  • Performs supervisory duties of Rehab Aides in direct resident care or related duties.
