About The Position

PARS Therapy is seeking a committed and empathetic home health Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in East Austin, Texas (ZIP code 78723). The role provides client-centered occupational therapy services to help people with physical, mental, or developmental challenges develop, recover, or maintain essential daily living and work skills. The COTA takes a holistic approach and adapts interventions and environments to clients’ individual needs to support confidence and independence in daily activities.

Requirements

• COTA certification is required.
• Proven working experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.
• Excellent knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
• Hands-on experience with computer programs and creative media.
• Familiarity with ADL evaluation tools, such as the Katz ADL scale and Lawton IADL scale.
• Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities.
• Current knowledge of treatment practices in the discipline and motivation to continually learn and grow professionally.

Nice To Haves

• Home care or rehabilitation experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Address client performance factors to support participation in occupations that affect health, well-being, and quality of life.
• Select and adapt the occupational therapy treatment model, method, and approach appropriate to each case.
• Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
• Teach clients new ways to approach tasks and break activities into achievable components.
• Assess clients’ homes and other environments and advise on alterations suited to their needs and capabilities.
• Recommend adaptive equipment and train clients in its use.
• Guide and educate family members and caregivers.
• Observe, note, and report progress toward short- and long-term treatment goals.
• Collect data and document the processes followed.
• Follow up regularly with clients.
