About The Position

Advanced Health Care of Albuquerque is hiring a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. This is a great opportunity for a compassionate, motivated therapy professional who enjoys helping residents improve independence, strength, safety, and quality of life. In this role, you will work closely with the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team to support individualized treatment plans, guide residents through therapy activities, and help them build confidence with daily living skills. We are looking for someone who is clinically strong, resident-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality rehabilitative care in a skilled nursing setting.

Requirements

  • Current Occupational Therapy Assistant license or certification in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively under supervision.
  • Empathy and commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, stretch, and twist throughout the workday.
  • Assist residents with mobility tasks, transfers, standing, walking, and positioning during therapy activities.
  • Move or maneuver therapy equipment such as mats, adaptive devices, or weights.
  • Stand for extended periods during therapy sessions and move throughout the facility as needed.
  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness.
  • Work calmly and effectively in high-stress situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Experience in an occupational therapy setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team to support individualized treatment plans.
  • Guide residents through therapy activities.
  • Help residents build confidence with daily living skills.
  • Assist with treatment implementation.
  • Document progress.
  • Coordinate with the care team.
  • Help residents improve performance with daily activities and functional goals.
