About The Position

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides occupational therapy to patients in their homes to help restore them to their fullest physical ability. The COTA performs duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and the established plan of care, following only the plan defined by the supervising occupational therapist. The role serves patients in Smithville and surrounding communities and requires travel to multiple patient residences within the assigned geographic area.

Requirements

• Current PT license in the state where services are rendered.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
• Access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.
• Ability to reliably commute to multiple patient residences daily within the assigned geographic area.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services within the scope of practice defined by state laws and in accordance with the plan of care established by the supervising occupational therapist.
• Follow the plan of care and instruct and assist patients with evidence-based treatment within the occupational therapy assistant's scope of practice and applicable state laws.
• Observe, record, and report patients' responses to treatment and changes in their conditions to the supervising occupational therapist, nurse supervisor, and/or physician.
• Coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members in therapy-related areas within the occupational therapy assistant's scope of practice.
• Commute reliably to multiple patient residences daily within the assigned geographic area.
