About The Position

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) will attend, participate in, and/or review information to discuss results of required evaluations and IEP reports. The COTA will implement individual, group, classroom, and consultative services as appropriate to meet the needs of students in their educational programs. This role involves scheduling students effectively and efficiently to receive occupational therapy services, utilizing best practices, evidence-based research, and appropriate materials to implement therapeutic services. The COTA will consult with educational and other therapy staff, and parents regarding occupational therapy needs and services in schools. Maintaining working student files in accordance with department procedures, completing all documentation within required timelines, and preparing and completing ACCESS billing for eligible students are key responsibilities. The COTA will monitor and document student progress based on data collection information and submit current treatment schedules and updates as needed to administration. Ensuring and maintaining student confidentiality and protecting student data in accordance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations and AIU policy is crucial. The role requires demonstrating familiarity with email, word documents, excel, and online IEP writing systems. The COTA will advise AIU administrative staff of caseload trends, district needs, and specific student concerns in a timely manner. This position requires working collaboratively and in accordance with practice act and licensure regulations with supervising occupational therapist/s. Attending staff meetings, in-services, and serving on staff committees as required are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Valid PA Occupational Therapist Assistant License
  • Valid Occupational Therapist Assistant Degree
  • Pediatric school based experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies
  • Ability and experience working as a member of a team
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct policy
  • Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).
  • School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
