About The Position

UCI Health is a large academic health system in California, part of the University of California, Irvine. It comprises multiple hospitals and a network of care centers across Orange and Los Angeles counties. As Orange County's only academic health system, it features a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, a Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma center, and a geriatric emergency department. UCI Health serves a large population through its commitment to patient care, research, and medical education. This position involves direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role requires collecting data and providing care appropriate to the age of the patients, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. Key responsibilities include maintaining constant observation of patients, assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring patient hygiene, aiding with ambulation and toileting, taking vital signs, and responding promptly to patient call lights.

Requirements

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
  • One-year acute care experience. (In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for staff with strong education and associated experiential background.)
  • Current American Heart Association Provider Basic Life Support.
  • Current Nursing Assistant Certificate or Currently Enrolled Nursing Student who has successfully completed first semester of RN Program (ADN or BSN).
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care in a safe and effective manner.
  • Data collection and care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Provide appropriate Nursing Assistant interventions.
  • Ensure excellent customer satisfaction to patients.
  • Maintain constant direct observation and visualization of identified patient(s).
  • Provide activities of daily living to patients.
  • Provide excellent patient hygiene.
  • Assist patients with ambulation and toileting needs.
  • Take vital signs.
  • Provide immediate attention to patient call lights.
