About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant assists with tasks to care for residents at Samaritan Keep Home. The role includes maintaining residents’ rooms, helping with personal care, passing meal trays and fluids, recording consumption, supporting activities, assisting ambulatory residents who need cueing, and documenting basic resident observations and care provided. The CNA must communicate information to supervisors and coworkers, work effectively with others, and perform duties under stress and with interruptions. The position is an 8-hour night shift with 80 position hours.

Requirements

• New York State Department of Health certification or eligibility for certification as a Long Term Care Nursing Assistant.
• Graduation from a Certified Nursing Assistant program.
• Ability to communicate information to supervisors and coworkers.
• Ability to work effectively with others and demonstrate tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
• Ability to work under stress and complete duties despite numerous interruptions.
• Ability to write legibly and accurately document care provided.
• Ability to understand printed health-related material.
• Familiarity with equipment used to move residents, take vital signs, and document.

Nice To Haves

• One year or more of Certified Nursing Assistant experience.
• Computer experience.
• BLS certification.
• High school-level knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tasks to care for residents.
• Maintain residents’ rooms by making beds, tidying up, and emptying linen bags.
• Wash residents’ hands and faces and assist with nail and hair care.
• Pass trays and fluids and enter consumption records.
• Assist residents with activities.
• Assist ambulatory residents who need cueing.
• Document basic resident observations and accurately record the type of care given.
• Communicate information to supervisors and coworkers.
• Perform other associated duties as assigned.
