About The Position

Masonicare at Ashlar Village is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant, whose official role title is Residential Care Assistant, to support residents in Wallingford, Connecticut. The role assists residents with activities of daily living and personal care, with the goal of maximizing independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. This position is for the evening shift, 40 hours per week. No experience is required, but CNA certification is required.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care, including bathing, dressing, ambulating, toileting, meals and nourishment, personal hygiene, transfers, and care of assistive devices.
Assist residents with instrumental activities of daily living, including telephone calls, light housekeeping, laundry, escorting and transportation, and mail or correspondence.
Assist residents with self-administration of medications through cueing only.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the ALSA Supervisor or Director of Assisted Living Services as needed.
Conduct resident room checks and rounds, monitor for environmental safety hazards, record incidents, errors, or accidents, and document resident-related events.
Assist with dining tasks, including escorting residents, setup and cleanup, and meal service.
Participate in and support the resident-centered activity program, and complete required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during the shift.
Act as a resident advocate.
Follow agency policies concerning confidentiality.
Communicate tactfully and diplomatically in sensitive or emotionally charged situations, and follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or others regarding complaints, problems, and concerns.
Serve as an ambassador to guests and other off-campus visitors.
Maintain certifications required for employment.
Perform other duties as required.
