About The Position

Certified Nursing Assistants at Masonicare at Ashlar Village assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care to maximize independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. The official title for this role is “Residential Care Assistant.” This position is based at Masonicare at Ashlar Village in Wallingford, Connecticut, and is an evening shift role working 40 hours per week. No experience is required, but CNA certification is required.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care, including bathing, dressing, ambulating, toileting, meals and nourishment, personal hygiene, transfers, and care of personal assistive devices.
Help residents with instrumental activities of daily living, including telephone calls, light housekeeping, laundry, escorting, transportation coordination, and mail or correspondence.
Assist residents with self-administration of medications through cueing only.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the appropriate supervisor or director as needed.
Conduct resident room checks during rounds, monitor for environmental safety hazards, record incidents, errors, and accidents, and document resident-related events.
Assist with dining tasks, including escorting residents, meal setup and cleanup, and serving meals.
Participate in and support the resident-centered activity program and complete required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during the shift.
Advocate for residents at all times.
Follow agency confidentiality policies.
Communicate tactfully and diplomatically in sensitive or emotionally charged situations, and follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or others about reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
Act as an ambassador to guests and off-campus visitors and maintain certifications required for employment.
Perform other duties as required.
