About The Position

A Certified Nursing Assistant supports nursing and medical providers in caring for patients with various injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. The role includes helping patients with bathing, hygiene, meals, and other activities of daily living; measuring and reporting vital signs; and documenting care in patient clinical records accurately and promptly.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
Ability to care for and assist patients with activities of daily living.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate in a tactful and caring manner.
Ability to work effectively with coworkers and other nursing personnel to provide quality patient care.
Able to stand, walk, work, and frequently pull, push, and bend for prolonged periods.
Able to lift 25 pounds at a time and move 150 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

Receive reports from the Charge Nurse for assigned patients.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, meal-tray setup, dressing, personal hygiene, and making beds.
Measure and record intake and output when indicated.
Obtain accurate patient weights and heights.
Turn and position patients in bed according to their plans of care.
Provide preventive skin care and incontinence care.
Trim and clean nails for patients who do not require specialized treatment.
Observe, report, and document unusual behavior or mood changes.
Obtain and record vital signs as instructed.
Help keep patients’ rooms and closets neat and orderly, to the extent possible.
Answer the call system promptly.
Promptly report observations relevant to changes in a patient’s physical status to the Charge Nurse.
Document nursing care provided in patient clinical records accurately and promptly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
