Requirements

  • Current registration on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry, with no findings or convictions involving resident abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or misappropriation of property.
  • Must be at least 17 years old.
  • Employment certificate or permit if 17 years old.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow established plans of care and clinical direction.
  • Physical stamina for an active, hands-on resident-care position.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at the level necessary for safe care and effective workplace communication.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous training or work experience in a geriatric setting preferred.
  • A caring, patient, and respectful approach to residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living based on individual needs and plans of care.
  • Support bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, mobility, positioning, and other personal-care needs.
  • Respond promptly and respectfully to resident requests.
  • Observe residents closely and report changes in condition, behavior, comfort, appetite, mobility, or daily functioning to the nurse.
  • Support rehabilitation and mobility goals as directed by the care team.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and respectful resident environment.
  • Communicate clearly with nurses, rehabilitation professionals, residents, families, and fellow CNAs.
  • Follow infection-prevention, safety, documentation, and resident-rights requirements.
  • Contribute to a team culture built on mutual respect, reliability, communication, and accountability.
