Under close supervision, the AHD Certified Nursing Assistant performs a variety of patient- and resident-care tasks in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or clinic. The role includes routine inpatient and/or outpatient nursing duties that do not require a nursing license, as well as related duties as required. The CNA assists with meals, personal hygiene, and incontinent care; responds to call lights; promotes patient comfort and safety; observes and reports changes in patient condition; and keeps patient areas clean and orderly. The CNA may set up suction and oxygen equipment, help position and transfer patients, assist with ambulation, take vital signs, perform simple range-of-motion exercises, prepare patients for examinations or treatments, and transport patients within the hospital. When assigned as a sitter, the CNA provides continuous one-to-one observation and basic care to help protect patients or residents from harm and meet their emotional and physical needs. In outpatient settings, the CNA prepares and stocks examination rooms, takes and documents vital signs and weights, assists clinicians during examinations, labels and delivers specimens to the laboratory, maintains clean and well-supplied clinical areas, and monitors medical-supply expiration dates. The stated pay range is $32.07–$34.59 per hour. Final compensation depends on factors including experience, education, skills, licenses and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and operational needs. Eligible positions receive a comprehensive benefits program.
