Free CNA Training Class
About The Position
Valparaiso Care & Rehabilitation offers free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training through the ASC Nurse Aide Training Program. No previous experience is required; participants need a commitment to providing compassionate care to residents. The program includes free classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training, preparing participants to become a CNA in a few weeks. Training lasts two weeks and includes 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training. Participants work with ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. After completing the program and testing, graduates may apply for positions at ASC communities across Indiana. Further nursing career pathways and opportunities are available.
Requirements
- No previous experience is required.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
- Complete the two-week training program, including 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, and complete testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, tooth brushing, and shaving.
- Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
- Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
- Obtain and record resident vital signs and observations.
- Answer patient call lights and fulfill requests.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and provide companionship as well as care.
