About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, performs routine personal care duties for patients, maintains a safe environment, and reports any problems. The CNA supports the mission and vision of Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Winchester Medical Center. Once experienced, the CNA may act as a preceptor in the orientation of new CNAs.

Requirements

Certification as a Nurse Aide listed on the relevant Virginia and/or West Virginia Board of Nursing registry, based on work locations within Valley Health.
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association (AHA), Healthcare Provider (HCP); new hires must have appropriate AHA certification before completing orientation.
Understand basic principles of human growth and development.
Be competent to interact successfully with patients according to their special needs, which may vary based on the age of the patient served.
Have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
If employed in Long-Term Care clinical areas, obtain the Valley Health-provided annual flu vaccination.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
