About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant assists with routine and repetitive patient care activities in a nursing unit. The role also performs clerical, organizational, and supportive patient-focused activities. The position serves the IMC Telemetry unit and is available across multiple shifts.

Requirements

CNA license in the state of employment required.
BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Patient care experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and complete pertinent documents.
Prepare rooms for admissions by setting up IV pots and adjusting beds to the appropriate level.
Ensure patient belongings accompany patients to their new unit or home at discharge.
Safely transport stable patients as required while maintaining security and confidentiality when interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
Clean, obtain, and return equipment and supplies, and run errands for the unit as required.
Assist licensed personnel in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, including replenishing water, linen, and towels in patient rooms as appropriate.
Perform unit-specific patient care tasks in accordance with the skills checklist and document care on the flowsheet.
Recognize obvious changes in a patient's condition and promptly report them to the nurse in charge.
Assist with ordering and maintaining stock items according to established inventory practices.
Keep unit supplies organized and orderly.
Respond appropriately to emergencies.
Communicate effectively with other team members during and between shifts.
Respond to phone calls and patient call lights.
Adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs.
