About The Position
MercyOne is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant for its Medical/Surgical unit at MercyOne Centerville Medical Center, a 25-bed critical-access hospital providing personalized rural community health care. The role delivers nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and is accountable for patient care administered during the shift. Care may be provided to patients from pediatric through geriatric age groups. This is a full-time position with 12-hour weekend shifts scheduled from 5:45 AM to 6:00 PM. The role may involve rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, floating to other areas as needed, and taking call as defined by hospital policy.
Requirements
- Certified Nurse Aide certificate required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- BLS must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
- Iowa Mandatory Reporter Adult and Child training must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care activities and related non-professional services to meet patients’ personal needs and comfort.
- Care for patients from infant to geriatric based on the scope of the unit.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment setup and maintenance.
- Visibly assess patients’ safety needs and prioritize safety.
- Assist with unit cleaning and remove outdated products.
- Pass food trays and assist patients with feeding and tray setup.
- Transport patients using a wheelchair or gurney.
- Keep patient rooms stocked with supplies.
- Use AIDET and the 10-5 rule, making the consumer experience a priority.
- Assist other staff as requested and look for opportunities to help coworkers in patient care.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
