About The Position

Demonstrates direct and indirect resident patient care activities under the direction of an RN or LPN. Assists residents with activities of daily living, provides personal care and comfort, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment for an assigned group of residents. Cares for adult and geriatric patients, performing clinical duties in accordance with population-specific guidelines and adhering to National Patient Safety Goals outlined in policies and procedures.

Requirements

Current Georgia Certified Nursing Assistant licensure.
Basic nursing assistant skills.
Basic mathematical abilities.
Knowledge of emergency procedures.
Demonstrates therapeutic communication techniques and explains procedures to patients before providing care.
Demonstrates commitment and willingness to follow supervisory guidelines and work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

One year of nursing assistant-related experience.

Responsibilities

Makes care rounds and reports pertinent information as appropriate; takes vital signs and provides tube feeding.
Provides personal care, including bathing, shampooing, nail care, and mouth care, as directed by the patient's plan of care and service procedures; assists patients with necessary self-help skills and leaves their immediate environment neat and clean.
Uses proper body mechanics and assists with positioning, mobility, and comfort needs.
Contributes to patient safety and reports potential problems or concerns to the Patient Care Manager, RN, or therapist.
Ensures resident equipment, such as call bells, water pitchers, and assistive devices, is accessible to residents.
Ensures resident activity and other worksheets are completed appropriately.
Stores equipment, supplies, and residents' personal items in accordance with policies and procedures.
Reports complaints and grievances from patients or family members to the charge nurse, ADON, DON, or Administrator.
Assists with washing residents' clothes.
Runs errands to other departments to deliver or pick up items when requested.
May assist with housekeeping duties, such as cleaning tables and refrigerators.
