About The Position
The NAR/Care Specialist provides direct care to residents to support their highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being through quality care. The role assists with nursing care in accordance with resident care plans and safety protocols, responds to resident requests, supports meals and activities, maintains cleanliness and equipment, and completes required documentation. The position is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., at 0.3 PM FTE. Sholom provides a continuum of services for adults, including senior apartments, assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, hospice, memory care, adult day services, and Meals on Wheels. The organization operates campus-based programs in Minneapolis/St. Louis Park and St. Paul and community-based services across the metro area.
Requirements
- Current certification through the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.

Responsibilities
- Perform nursing care responsibilities and assist residents with nursing care according to care plans and safety protocols.
- Respond efficiently to residents’ needs, maintain facility cleanliness, and ensure equipment upkeep.
- Assist Nutritional Services staff with serving meals and improving the mealtime experience.
- Respond to call lights, phone calls, and in-person requests for information as needed.
- Complete required documentation and charting accurately and promptly on a computer or forms, following policies and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the facility and resident rooms, and provide assistance and follow-up when incidents occur.
- Seek opportunities to meet residents’ social and psychosocial needs through planned and spontaneous activities, meaningful conversations, and facilitating activities as instructed.
- Support other Nursing responsibilities as needed.
